Q: Can I do this?
A: Yes, you can do it. It was made for you the beginner. Check out our beginner specials here. No matter your flexibility, fitness level, heat tolerance, and chronic ailments. A positive attitude and being open to new experiences will make it easier. If you are over 13 and willing, you can do it. If you have a specific health concern, check in with your doctor for the go ahead and then GO AHEAD.
Q. But seriously, I’m not flexible. I can’t even touch my toes! Can I do this?
A. YES! This is a huge misconception about yoga. Would you not take swimming lessons because you didn’t know how to swim? Yoga will have you touching your toes in no time. More importantly, increasing your flexibility will have you feeling amazing, It was made for you. There is no competition and no prize at the end, other then feeling good. Ok, there is a prize, and the trophy goes to you for your dedication to Self and contribution to good health.
Q. What if I can’t do all of the poses?
A. In this practice we modify in terms of depth not form. So, if you can’t go all the way in a pose, you do what you can. It’s the best way to create long lasting change anyway, a little bit at a time, doing the best you can. If you ever need a break, it’s perfectly appropriate even for longtime practitioners to take a break, preferably in stillness regain breath and composure, and try again once recovered. You’ll surprise yourself though. You can do more than you think.
Q. Will I lose weight?
A. Maybe. Probably. Yoga brings your body into balance. For many this means losing pounds and inches, as well as increased desire for healthy foods. After all that sweating, hard work, and detoxification, junk food often isn’t as alluring as it was beforehand. You will, guaranteed, notice big changes in your physical body and appearance including longer leaner muscles. If your weight is already balanced for your body, you may not experience weight loss. Yoga gives you the body you were meant to have, the one that feels right!
Q. How often should I come?
A. At the beginning, as your body is acclimating to the heat and the postures, it’s important to come as often as you can. You can practice daily without a recovery and many people enjoy a daily practice or participate in 30 day challenges. It’s recommended for optimal benefit you practice a minimum of three times per week. However, something is always better than nothing.
Q. Why is the room heated?
A. The room is intentionally heated to warm your muscles – allowing you to work deep in a safe way. The heat also facilitates healing, helps prevent injuries, and promotes sweating, which helps flush toxins from your body.
